Everyone who switched to a Chromium browser personally killed the open web. I use Firefox with 47 about:config flags, no telemetry, resistFingerprinting on, JS disabled by default, and a custom user.js I update nightly. Half of websites don't load. The half that do are punished for using JavaScript and I'm glad.

you've configured your browser to break the web and concluded the web is broken

If your site needs JavaScript to render text, the problem is your site. I should be able to read your React SPA in w3m over a 56k modem behind seven Tor relays. The fact that I can't is a moral failing on YOUR part, not a config issue on mine.

who is the user you're building the web for here exactly

Me. The user is me. There is one correct user and I am him and my needs are a terminal browser, no images, no fonts, no color, and an RSS feed of the GNU mailing list. Build for me. Everyone else is a normie and normies will be fine, they have Google, which is evil.
